Welcome to San Luis Obispo, California

One of California’s oldest communities, it began with the founding of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in 1772 as the fifth mission in what would become a chain of 21 California missions.

A key feature contributing to the San Luis Obispo’s quality of life is its delightful downtown. The heart of downtown is Mission Plaza, with its creek side setting and beautifully restored Mission Plaza. This historic plaza is complemented by a bustling downtown offering great shopping, outdoor and indoor dining, night life, and its famous Thursday Night Farmers’ Market.

San Luis Obispo is located amidst California’s Central Coast. The surrounding area is a mingling of pristine beaches, quaint cities, lush hillsides, vast vineyards and secluded lakes.

San Luis Obispo Arts and Entertainment

San Luis Obispo enjoys a nightlife that comes alive each evening as people make their way to local eateries and watering holes that feature evening specials, ambiance and live entertainment. Enjoying the laid-back atmosphere as day turns into night is an important part of experiencing the SLO lifestyle.

Big-city attractions, like the legendary San Luis Obispo Symphony and many national talents are featured at the state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly. Whether you are looking for a night out on the town, a world-class dinner, an intimate stroll along San Luis Creek, or an evening of live entertainment, you are sure to find it nearby.

Another big attraction is the development of Edna Valley into a well-known wine region. There are almost thirty vineyards withing 25 miles of the hotel, with three of them being less than 10 miles.

San Luis Obispo Museums and History

The Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is considered by many to be the most beautiful of all California missions. Founded in 1772, the Mission is still an active church. Another popular piece of SLO history is the Jack House. Built in the late 1870s, this historic Victorian home has been fully restored into a "living museum,". Be sure your history tour includes the County Historical Museum, next to the Mission. Learn the story of SLO's colorful history via changing displays of old photographs and artifacts.

Enjoy San Luis Obispo Shopping

Walking around the streets of San Luis Obispo, you will experience a sense of European-style culture. You can find an escape from the bustling activity just a block away on the walkways along San Luis Creek, or choose among the eateries offering outside dining overlooking the waterway and Mission courtyard.

Another popular draw is the Farmers' Market, a large festival held downtown on Higuera street every Thursday evening year-round from 6-9 pm. About three-quarters of a mile of the street is closed to cars. Live entertainment is featured and local farmers and vendors sell goods and produce.
