Morro Rock State Historic Landmark.

Rising 576 feet from the waters of the Pacific Ocean at the entrance to Morro Bay Harbor, Morro Rock is an ancient dormant volcano a few hundred feet off the shore of Morro Bay, California on the Central California coast. Formed 23 million years ago from the plugs of long-extinct volcanoes, this scared sentinel is a nesting sanctuary for the endangered Pelegrine Falcons that take refuge on the ancient lava peak.
